Orson Frank Gilles, son of John and Emiline Gilles was born March 29th, 1864 at Mt.Pleasant, Illinois and departed this life June 13th,1937 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 13 days.
He was married at the age of 23 yrs. to Eliza Lane McLaughlin. To this union 6 children were born, 4 girls and 2 boys, 1 boy and 1 girl dying in early childhood. His wife passed away 8 years ago on April 4th, 1929 and 4 years later he was married again to Minnie Beeler of New Hampton, Missouri, who with his children, is left to mourn his death.
Mrs.Alta Keeten of Glade, Kans.; Mrs.Ida VanAllen of Phillipsburg, Kans.; Frank Gilles of Oakland, California; Mrs. Fannie Green of Richmond, California; 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, 3 nieces, 7 nephews and other relatives and numberless friends.
He was a loving husband and a devoted father and will be sadly missed by all.
Farewell dear father, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain,
Farewell, till in some happy place
We shall behold thy face again
Tis ours to miss thee, all our yearsd,
And tender memories of thee keep,
Thine in the Lord to rest, for so,
He giveth His beloved sleep.
The funeral sermon was preached by Rev.G.C.Milner of Hill City, Kans. and he was assissted in the services by Rev. Lower of the local Church.
The songs were sung by a quartet: Ted Stuckman, Blanche Ronan, Mr.and Mrs. Frank Brotemarkle, accompanied by Mrs.Martha Klontz playing the piano. The songs "Does Jesus Care", "In The Land Where We Never Grow Old" and "Nearer My God To Thee".
The pallbearers were Claude Wyland, Chas. Goetz, Geo.Elliott, W.W.Elliott, W.W.Eckleberry, George Latta and Charles Elder.
