Mabel Edith Handley, daughter of Joseph and Adaline Zook, was born July 11,1880 in Adair County, Iowa and passed away Oct.20,1972 in North Platte, Nebr.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert and 2 sons Granville and Ernest.
She grew up in the Eureka township area, and was graduated from Simpson College. She raised her family in the Fontanelle, Iowa area; then after selling her farm she moved to Dallas Center, Iowa where she resided for 25 years.
She was active in the Highland Methodist Church for many years and later became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dallas Center.
Survivors include 1 son Wayne of Bridgewater, Iowa; 4 daughters' Mrs.Paul [Elsie] Wallace of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs.Marion [Maude] White of Hoyt Lakes,Minn.; Mrs. Gould [Virginia] Wise of North Platte, Nebr.; Mrs.Andrew [Irene] Bosman of Glidden, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct.23,1972 at 10:30a.m. at the Dallas Center United Methodist Church with Rev.John Robinson of Dallas Center and Rev. Andrew Bosman of Glidden officiaing.
The music was furnished by Mrs. Don Brandt, who sang "The Lord Is My Shepard" and "How Grreat Thou Art", accompanied by Mrs. Francis Friesz.
Pallbearers were Bob Wise, Tom Wise and John Friesz of Ohama, Nebr., Jim Wise of Andrews, Texas, Merele White of Minneapolis, Minn., Orval Conley of Elkardt, Iowa and Verle Ticknor of Adel, Iowa.
Graveside services were held at 2p.m. at the Prussia Center Cemetery.
