Mrs. G. E. Likens aged (63?), a pioneer resident of Adair County, died at her home near Orient, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mark's Chapel in Orient. The services were in charge of Father O'Leary of Greenfield, pastor of St. Mark's church. Interment took place in the Orient cemetery. Mrs. Likens was born in Greenfield, September 28, 1869, on a farm, where the Greenfield city park is now located. She moved with her parents to Orient, where at the age of 18 she was married to G. E. Likens. Their marriage was blessed with five children, three of whom survive, Edwin, deceased, Cliff and Arthur of Trinidad, Colorado; Boniface Edward who died in infancy and Mrs. T. Durman of Montibello, California. Mrs. Likens was one of a family of 11 children, four of whom survive, Mrs. A. Rivenburgh of Greenfield, C. J. Eatinger of Orient; Mrs. Elizabeth Spencer of Seneca, Nebraska; and A. C. Eatinger of Colorado Springs. All of the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Durman of Montibello, California, as was also all of the surviving brothers and sisters except A. C. Eatinger of Colorado Springs.
