Death Takes Bert Piper

Bert Piper, a rancher and miner, of Baker County for 50 years, died at St.Elizabeth Hospital April 21, 1951 at the age of 70.
Mr. Piper, who was born in Greenfield, Iowa, operated a ranch in Sumpter Valley for 24 years before moving to Baker. He also had interests in mining property and ingaged in mining in the Sumpter area.
He was a member of McEwen Lodge #125, AF & AM, and of the Alpine Chapter # 182, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a brother Walter Piper of Greenfield, Iowa; 1 sister Mrs.D.H. Hastings of Billings, Montana and 2 cousins Myrtle Gillis of Vancouver, Wash. and Carl Cook of Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted by the McEwen Lodge #125, AF and AM at the West and Company Chapel, Wednesday April 25 at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
