Accident Fatal To M.McGinnis

Marion McGinnis, 32 of the Howe neighborhood died in the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines Friday, following an accident while operating a combine on the Seeley farm near Howe.
McGinnis was alone in a field operating the compine when the accident occurred. It is supposed that the cylinder of the machine became clogged & he had kicked it with his foot to start it. His foot was caught in the machine & the foot was taken off at the ankle.
After the accident, McGinnis drove the tractor a quarter of a mile to the house, where he summoned help. He was taken to a doctor in Stuart by Alfred Chambers & was rushed from there to Des Moines where he died.
The accident occurried about 6 o'clock Thursday Night. Chambers who was working with him had gone to the house & McGinnis had intended to make 1 more round with the combine.
Marion Edwin McGinnis son of Frank & Grace McGinnis was born Mar.17,1907 & passed away at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines July 28, 1939 at the age of 32 years, 4 months & 11 days.
He was born on the old McGinnis farm. This farm was the property of his great grandfather, his grandfather & his father, & lies just close to the Loucks Grove Church. Here in this community, Marion spent his entire life.
He attended the Greenfield & Menlo high schools. On July 2, 1927 he was married to Ina Robinson of Greenfield. To them was born Geraldine Faye who is 9 years old. He was a devoted husband & his going is a great shock to the entire family, relatives & friends.
He united with the Loucks Grove Church when just a boy.
