Clarence Oaks, the son of Willis & Anna Oaks, was born March 21, 1902 & departed this life in Adair County, Iowa on Wednesday Aug. 16th, 1939 at the age of 37 years, 4 months & 26 days.
On Feb. 1st, 1931 he was united in marriage at Adel, Iowa to Billie Franklin of Menlo, Iowa.
He was very fond of mechanical things & rendered expert & efficient service for O.A.Garnett, the Manley Imp.Co. of Osceola, Iowa, the Sac Co.Imp. Co. of Sac City, Iowa, the Iowa Gen'l Imp. Co. of Waterloo, Iowa
He attended the Menlo schools & in early youth united with the Menlo Methodist Church.
He was blessed with a generous nature & a friendly disposition & will be missed by a host of friends.
There remains to mourn his passing his wife Billie Oaks, his father & mother, Mr. & Mrs. Willis Oaks; 1 sister Mrs. Don Thornburg; a niece Helen Thornburg; 2 nephews Royce & Bobby Thornburg all of Menlo, besides a number of other relatives & friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Menlo Methodist Church Saturday afternoon Aug.19, 1939 by the Rev.Louis H.Joslin. Interment was made in the Menlo Cemetery.
Music was furnished by Glenn Stevenson, Scott Joslin, Zeke Sayre, Allen Colbert, with Mrs. Gertrude Wilson as accompanist. Those serving as pallbearers were Ed Lemke, Fred Schultz & Gene Enright.
