Elvina Bell Wyllie
Elvina Bell Wyllie, daughter of William H. and Christina H. Wyllie was born on June 4, 1911 on her parents, farm south of Bridgewater.
She attended a rural Bridgewater school one-half mile fraom her home.
After graduation she assisted her parents with the work on the farm.
In 1938, after the sudden death of her father she and her sister, Bertha, helped their mother keep the home together.
In 1943 she moved with her mother and sister to Bridgewater, Iowa.
On December 26th of that year her mother passed away.
She and her sister later moved to Greenfield where they established a home.
On May 25, 1947 she was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith by Rev. George Vogel at Immanuel Luthern Church at Greenfield, Iowa.
February 14, 1950 , she was united in marriage to Leonard Allen of Massena, Iowa at Albert Lea, Minnesota.
To this union a still-born baby son, Billy Dean, was born.
When Elvina was two years old she submitted to a gland infection surgery which resulted in permanent injury, but never once making a complaint over this handicap, she submitted to several surgeries during her life-time.
In the year of 1965 she submitted to major surgery for the trouble which later caused her death at the hospital in Creston on NOvember 28, 1970 at the age of 59 years, 5 months, and 24 days.
She was faithfully cared for by her husband, Leonard, at their home and in the hospital.
He was assisted by their special friends, the Miller family of 303 S. Pine in Creston, Iowa, who were so faithful to Elvina during her long illness, always ready and willing to help.
She cared for her niece, Wanda Maire Buckner, as a daughter and spent many h ours rearing this little girl, who was greatly loved and admired by her Aunt Elvina.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard, five nieces, one nephew, Mrs. Wanda Maire Buckner and husband, Larry and two childres, Ricky and Tammy of Atlantic,Iowa, Juanita Mae, Kathleen Kay, Collen Rae, and Otto Dean Johnson, all of Creston, Mrs. Sharlene Hartman of Iowa City,and one sister , Mrs. May Feick of Bridgewater, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Dean, her father and mother, two sisters, Amanda Garner and Bertha Johnson, and one niece, Wylene Kay Feick.
Her nieces spent many hours calling on her at the hospital and taking her for rides in the wheel chair.
There young, happy smiles and assurance that God would give her help during her illness.
Juanita read to her St. John 3:16.
This gave her much faith and strength for the last days of her life here on earth.
