Steven F.Forcht, 51, passed away, Sept.16, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Steven Frederick Forcht was born in Dexter on April 22,1953 to Nile A. & Jean L. [Schirm] Forcht.
Steve was a lifelong resident of Stuart. He attended Stuart High School & graduated in 1971. He later graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in Building Trades. Steve workedas a carpenter until 1986 when he went to work at Cardinal IG in Greenfield.
In June 1972 Stevemarried Sue Eldredge. 4 children were born to this union Cory, Chris, Alison & Andy.
Steve enjoyed spending his time with family & friends. He took great pride in his grandchildren & loved to make them laugh. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, bowling & fishing. He was an avid stock car racing fan & recently spent 10 days in Boone, at Super Nationals in June of this year. Steve invested in a camper & was very excited to take it on his "racing vacation" in Boone. He & Sue also enjoyed their time together on the numerous bowling trips they took around the country as well as their trips to watch the Chicago Cubs. He will be greatly missed & lovingly remembered by his family & many friends.
Steve was precded in death by his parents; Jean & Nile Forcht.
Steve is survived by his wife Sue; his sons Cory Forcht & fiance Amy of Greenfield;Chris Forcht & wife Rebecca & Andy Forcht all of Stuart; 1 daughter Alison Forcht & boyfriend Doug of Des Moines, Courtney, Jordan, Evan & Colin; siblings Nyla Maas & husband Ron of Menlo,Marty Forcht of Stuart, Deb Funaro & husband Charles of Des Moines.Funeral services were held on Monday Sept.20 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart with the Rev.David Fleming officiating. Assisting at the altar were Zac Beaman & Jonathan Boss. Mark Tisl provided the readings.
The Rev.Kathy Sides sang "On Eagle's Wings" & "Softly & Tenderly, Jesus Is Calling" & she led the congregation in singing "Amazing Grace". Ida Griffin provided the organ accompaniment.
Serving as casket bearers were Wendell Ray, Joel Olson, Mark Tisl, Jeff Henderson, Pat Beaman, & Jeff McAtee. Honorary bearers included Bill Belden, Steve Jackson, Bob McAtee, Larry Jackson & Gene Clarke.
The committal service & interment were at the Dexter Cemetery.
Professional arrangements were by Ruppert Funeral Homes in Stuart.
