Alice Anderson,85, passed away Sunday July 25 at the Good Samaritian Care Center in Fontanelle.
She was born August 12,1918 near Massena in Cass County to Melvin Bradford & Mabel Clare [Messner] Archer.
She graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1937.
On May 8,1938 Alice married Everett E.Anderson at Fontanelle. They were married for a short time before he passed away.
While living in Tucson, Ariz., Alice worked for Mobile Oil. After her divorce, Alice moved back to Iowa with her son. Alice worked for 3 years with Leader Dogs for the Blind out of Rochester, Mich. Alice was head waitress & in charge of catering at the Cloud Room Restaurant at the Des Moines Airport for 27 years, returning to Fontanelle after her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Stuart Chapter of the Rebekah Lodge, Avondale Methodist Church, & was very active in the Women's Group of the Church while she was able.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Elma LeMar & Ilah Pickrell & brother-in-law Oliver Pickrell.
Survivors include her son Forrest & wife Jane Anderson of East Haddam, Conn.; grandchildren Rachael & Eric Dodge of Orlando, Fla. & Daryl Anderson of Patterson, N.J.; brother-in-law Wilbur LeMar of Stuart; other relatives & friends.
Funeral services were held July 28 at Avondale Methodist Church in Adair County with the Rev.David Kruse officiating.
Burial was in Avondale Cemetery.
