Marvin John Duckett, 91, passed away March 1,2003.
His body was donated for medical research. Graveside services will be held Saturday June 19, 2p.m. at the Fontanelle Cemetery.
Marvin John Duckett was born Dec.22,1911, son of George S. & Maime [Casey] Duckett.
He married Beatrice Valentine Means in Oct. 1932. She precded him in death Jan.1,1991. 1 son Milton Marvin Duckett was born to this union.
In Sept. 1991 hemarried Helen [Mathes] Perry who preceded him in death Aug.17,2000.
Marvin worked for Ford Dealerships in Fontanelle & Atlantic from 1928-1935. He worked as a salesman in Lenox for Beck Brothers & Walters selling Shell Gas & GE Appliances. He moved to Des Moines & worked as a traveling salesman selling auto parts from 1936 until the war began. During WW2 he worked with salvage. After the war he worked in a Ford Motor Company business.
He bought a Ford dealership in Hampton in 1956 & operated that until 1966. At that time he bought a summer lake resort in Cleveland, Minn., & operated it until 1972.
Marvin moved to LaFeria, TX., where he worked for the local bank as assistant vice president. Then bought into a land development corporation & developed several new home additions in the area.
He lived in Kilgore, Tx., from about 1985 until 1991. At that time he moved back to Iowa where he remarried & lived in Greenfield until Oct. 2002 when he moved back to Tx., to live with his son where he lived until his passing.
He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1947.
Marvin loved to fish, travel, play cards [especially poker], collect antiques [especially clocks] & go to auctions.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice; his wife Helen; & his granddaughter Pam Tofuri Aug.12,1999.
He is survived by his son Milton & wife Madeleen Duckett of Massena; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren & 4 great-great-grandchildren.
