Marv "Brownie" Brown, 66, of Fontanelle, passed away on Wednesday Feb.26,2003, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Marv was born Oct. 16,1936, to Raymond & Audra [Ball] Brown in Nevinville.
Marv was raised in the Nevinville area & graduated from Richland High School in 1954.
He was united in marriage to Carole McDowall on July 14,1957, at the Highland Methodist Church, rural Fontanelle. They lived in Nevinville, Massena, Greenfield, Wonewoc, Wisc. & Fontanelle.
Marv was a farmer, sale barn owner, helped Marlin Marckmann farm & a clerk at Stuart Sales. He raised Appaloosa Horses. He loved going to horse shows, baseball games & other sports activities of his grandchildren.
Marv was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club, Arrowhead Appaloosa Association, Midwest Appaloosa Association, Nebraska Appaloosa Club, Methodist & the Iowa Associated Saddle Club. He played town team baseball for 16 years at Nevinville & Wonewoc, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his father Ray.
He is survived by his wife Carole of Fontanelle; children Sherry Harris of Creston, Bret Brown &wife Deb of Anita, Greg Brown & wife Karin of Newman Lake, Wash., Doug Brown & wife Teresa of Jefferson; 14 grandchildren J.D., Heath, Nick, Beau, Ty, & Tanner Brown, Sarah, Laura, Adam & Lisa Harris, Cassi & Jenna , Kyann & Gina Brown; mother Audra Brown of Dillion, Colorado; a brother Phil Brown & wife Jo of Glenwood; sister Barb Smith & husband Max of Dillion, Colorado; Mother & father-in-law Margaret & Max McDowall of Fontanelle; brothers & sisters-in-law; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday March 1 at United Methodist Church in Fontanelle with the Rev.Jerry Hoff officiating.
Music was by Joy Angove vocalist & congregational singing.
Pallbearers were Donnie Storm, Marlin Marckmann, Larry Means, Jim Angove, Ed Hanson, Floyd Faust, Ron Shaffer & Joe Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Wickey, Donnie Pool, Elliott Bade, Brett Larsen, Burt VanEaton, Mike Sickels & Richard Lehman.
Florial committee was Rita Faust, Zela Barnett, Lisa Quam, Dr. Lou Yount & Rachel "Ralph" Miller.
Interment was in the Canby Cemetery.
Steen Funeral Homes of Greenfield provided professional arrangements.
