Mary E.Bowen, 79, of Urbandale, died on Tuesday March 18,2003 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Mary was born the daughter of Ray and Myrtle [Chambers] Mallatt on Aug.28,1923 in Greenfield.
She was a graduate of Zion High School.
Mary Ellen Mallatt married Harold Bowen on Feb. 8,1941, in Maryville, Mo. To this union 2 daughters were born, Barbara and Janet.
She had resided in Long Beach, Calif., and Stuart before moving to Urbandale in 1964, where she lived until her passing.
Mary was a retired clerical worker for Look Magazine in Des Moines and Parker Brothers in Urbandale.
She enjoyed reading biographies, garage sales and visiting with her relatives and friends. Her special joys were visits and phone calls with her grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Mary was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and a former member of the Garden Club.
She was preceded into Eternal Life by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter Crystal; a sister Velta Mallatt; 2 brothers Wayne and Kenneth Mallatt.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her 2 daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Pat Marnin and Janet and Geoff Jones; 3 grandsons Jeff Marnin and wife Patti, Craig Jones and Chris Jones; 2 granddaughters Pam Marnin and companion Ivan Clark and Angela Gable and husband John; and 3 great-grandsons Taylor Marnin and Mitchell and Noah Gable; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday March 22, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Interment was in the Greenfield Cemetery.
