Carl Henry Weller, the son of William Weller Sr. and Lena [Weber] was born in Prussia Township, Adair County, Iowa, on Mar.12,1910. He was baptized in infancy on Apr.5,1925, he was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. In this Church he remained an active and loyal member all his life, at various times holding the offices of Trustee and of Treasurer of the Congregation.
On Sept.18,1938, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Williams. To this union was born 1 son, Randall Richard. In this home he was a devoted and kind husband, a loving father, ever administering the affairs of his household well.
For 23 years he was employed by Adair County. He 1st began as a laborer, then advanced to foreman, and last he became the dragline operator. As in his home and in his Church, so in business and employment, he was dilligent, industrious, dependable, a man among men, who knew how to deal fairly and kindly.
Last March his health gave him concern and he sought medical aid. The condition gradually proved very serious and efforts proved of no avail. Throughout his illness, he was a patient sufferer, most receptive to his pastor's ministration. With a childlike humility and faith he committed himself to the Hand of God. On Monday morning June 16,1952, he peacefully went to sleep in God, that blessed sleep "from which none ever wakes to weep".
He was preceded in death by his father William Weller Sr., in 1946. Those to mourn his departure are his wife Evelyn and their son Randall Richard of his immediate family: his mother Mrs.Lena Weller; his brother William Weller all of Greenfield; his brother Lawrence Weller of Winfield, Iowa and his sister Mrs.Eleanora Waltersdorf of Des Moines; besides many other relatives of this vicinity and a host of friends to whom he was a kind neighbor and fellow worker.
It was a comparitively short life of 42 years that he spent on earth, but a full and rich life, that of a Christian.
