James Glaspell, son of Isaac and Mary Glaspell, was born at Davenport, Ia. Oct. 9,1877. He passed away at Stuart, Ia., Jan.19,1958 at the age of 80 years, three months and 10 days.
He was the 2nd child in a family of 6 brothers and 2 sisters. With exception of 1 sister who survives him all have preceded him in death.
He spent the greater part of his life as a farmer in Grove Township, Adair County, Ia. His marriage to Nettie Frances McIntire took place Feb.1,1902 and they became the parents of 4 children, 2 of whom survive their parents. 2 sons Harold and Raymond with the mother, preceded him in death. Mrs. Glaspell passed away Sept.19,1953.
Mr. Glaspell was a Veteran of the Spanish-American War, having served with Company B, 3rd Iowa Regiment during that conflict.
Besides the 2 children Mrs. Carl Johnson of Stuart and Don Glaspell of Greenfield; he is survived by the sister Mrs. Nora Hoffman of Dubuque and 2 grandchildren Douglas and Joyce Glaspell of Greenfield.
