Josephine A.McQuaid 98, died Thursday eveningAug.12,2004 in Jones Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Josephine Anita Baldini was born March 23,1906 in Granaione, Italy. She was the daughter of Dominic and Esola Panchetti Baldini. The family emigrated to the United States and went to Chicago, Ill., where Jo received her education. The family moved to Greenfield in 1923 where they operated a candy kitchen.
Josephine A.Baldini and John S.McQuaid were married Jan.15,1938 in Greenfield. The couple lived in Westphalia where John ran the Co-op Store. They later moved to Ulmer where they owned and operated McQuaid's General Store and Jo was the postmaster. The couple moved to Anamosa in 1954. Jo went to work at Watkins Department Store where she was employed for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on Aug.9,1979; grandson Michael McQuaid and sister Agatha.
Survivors include 3 children Pat and husband Neil "Pate" Schoon of Anamosa; Paul "Corky" and wife Joanie Ondler McQuaid of Marion and Lawrence and wife Maxine McQuaid of Beloit, Wis.; sister Ellen White of Marion, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St.Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa officiated by the Rev.Carl Manternach.
Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Goettsch Funeral Home provided professional services.
