Funeral services for Nelson Perry Brown who died at the Clarke County Hospital Wednesday Aug.16,1972 were held Friday Aug.18,1972 from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osecola with Elder Nelson Brown of Salt Lake City, Utah conducting the rite.

Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Prescott, Iowa

He was a brother-in-law of Mrs.Frank Griswold of Greenfield.

Nelson Perry Brown was born Dec.1,1892 at Bridgewater the son of Thomas Perry and Minnie Jeffryes Brown. He attended Jackson Township schools and farmed in Ringgold and Decatur Counties. He was united in marriage to Halcey Mae Speed Dec.2, 1914 at Fontanelle, Iowa. Four children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include his wife Halcey of Grand River, Iowa; daughter Elizabeth Carpenter and husband Louis of Osecola; son Frank and wife Bonnie of Norfolk, Neb.; son-in-law Ervil Leroy Merritt and wife Dorothy of Panora, Iowa; daughter-in-law Maxine Murray and husband Patrick of Jacksonville, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters Vera Harris of Omaha, Neb.; Bessie Speed of Des Moines; Alloraine Johnson of Salem, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Nelson Marion; daughter Thelma Merritt and brother Harold Brown.
