Mrs. A. J. Scofield Dies At Home in Kansas

News of the death of Mrs. A. J. Scofield of Lawrence, Kansas, on October 21 (1924) was received in Greenfield last week. Mrs. Scofield was formerly a Greenfield resident.

Parthenia Norman was born in Henry County, Illinois, May 5, 1867, where she lived to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Adolphus J. Scofield, February 5, 1875 at Fontanelle, Iowa. They spent their early married life in Greenfield, Iowa and Macksburg, Iowa: later moving to Waverly, Kansas in 1908; then to Quenomo, Kansas in 1912, where her husband died February 10, 1913.

To them six children were born, three of which survived their mother. Clyde B. Scofield and Marie E. Scofield of Lawrence, Kansas, and Mrs. E. A. (Addie) Farrow of Waverly, Kansas. She leaves one sister Mrs. Mary McMullen, who lives in Colorado and was unable to be present with her.

For the last four years she made her home in Lawrence, Kansas, where she died, Oct. 21, 1924. She was a patient sufferer for the last two years. She always showed great love for her family and kindness to others. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Lebo, Kansas

She was buried at Quenemo, Kansas by the side of her husband.
