Vaughn Irene (Elliott) Anderson, former Madison (SD) resident, died on Dec. 29, 2012, in Tucson, Ariz.

A Celebration of Life memorial service was held at the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Tucson. She will be interned alongside her husband Andy in the St. Marks Memory Garden.

Vaughn Elliott was born on Nov. 20, 1930, at Greenfield, Iowa, to Audra and Wilma (Schwab) Elliott. She grew up in Greenfield and later on a farm near Rogers, N.D. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1949. She married Clarence Anderson on March 22, 1950. She worked as a proofreader at the Madison Daily Leader; as a secretary and office manager at the St. Joseph’s hospital and later as a resident program coordinator at the Creighton hospital in Omaha, Neb.

During her adult life, she lived in Harvey, N.D., Redwood Falls, Minn., Madison, S.D., Omaha, Neb., St. Louis, MO., Memphis, TN., and Tucson, AZ.

While living in Madison she was a charter member of Chapter CP PEO, was active in the church and as a member of the Madison Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter; Joan (Alan) Smith of Houston, TX; a son, Jeff (Sandy) of Madison; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy (Allen) Webster of Rosemount, MN; and Pat (Jack) Kueber of Aneta, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald “Sam” and June (Undem) Elliott and a niece (Dawn).
A memorial service is also planned to be held at the United Methodist Church in Madison (SD). Memorials may be sent Madison United Methodist Church, 304 N. Egan Ave., Madison, S.D. 57042, and designate for the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.
