Bathurst, Phyllis Lavon Gaule -
Phyllis Lavon Bathurst was born September 29, 1934 near Benton, Iowa to Clifford and Leota Knight Gaule and departed this life in the Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa on June 26, 1998.
She attended rural schools and then attended High School in Clearfield graduating with the class of 1952.
On January 25, 1952 she was united in marriage to Sam Bathurst in Clarinda, Iowa. To this union were born Michelle Ranae and Sherman LaVern.
Phyllis was employed as a cook at Clearview Nursing Home Care about 8 years until she became ill.
Surviving Phyllis are her husband, Sam of Clearfield, son Sherman of Creston, daughter Michelle and husband Larry Brammer of Clearfield; two grandsons Bruce Brammer of Hamburg and Wade of Clearfield; a brother, Mike Gaule of Paynesvillc, MN; sister Beverly and husband Ronald Monk of Marshalltown, two sisters-in-law, Deloris Gaule of Salem, IL and Liana Gaule of Annandale, MN; a brother-in-law Bill Bathurst of Guthrie Center. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Floyd Lee "Bud" Gaule.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield, IA with Robert Richardson officiating. Music was provided by James Adams. Casketbearers were Shannon Cason, Marty Cason, Jack Campbell, Jerry Campbell, Jim Campbell, Joey Campbell, and Jay Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Fletchall
Dale Campbell, Jeff Wood, Grover Mains, Al Brammer, and Marvin Shrimpton.
Interment was in the Greenfield Cemetery at Greenfield, Iowa.
