Funeral services for C. Earl Bloom, Sr., 92 years of age, were held Saturday afternoon, March 6, at the Bickford-Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield. Mr. Bloom died at his home in Greenfield March 3.
Reverend James McCutchan officiated at the service, with Mrs. Alice Hogan at the organ. Vocalists, Mrs. Myrtle Thompson and Mrs. Patty Arterburn, sang the hymns "In The Garden", and "There's a Mansion Over The Hilltop".
Mr. and Mrs. Art Lilly and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wahe were in charge of the floral tributes.
Casketbearers included Walt Lilly, Marian Lilly, Arlen Bloom, Danny Bloom, Larry Johnson, Dick Lilly, Randy Bloom, Donald Bloom, Douglas Bloom, and Leland Johnson.
Interment was at Witt Cemetery, rural Bridgewater.
Mr. Bloom specialized in raising Chester White hogs during his farming years, and showed them at many fairs. He sold livestock to ranchers from many states.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nellie Standley in 1972, and a son Dennis in 1969. Also by his parents, three brothers, a son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
There are seven surviving children: Eileen Lilly and husband Les of Greenfield; Fannie Kapfer and husband,Dr. T.A. Kapfer of Greenfield; Earl Bloom, Jr. and his wife Frances of Centralia, Kansas; Warren Bloom and wife Wilma of Preston; Kelly Bloom and wife Mary of Bloomfield, New Jersey; Wayne Bloom and wife Gerry of Villisca; and Doris Marleta Bloom at home. There are nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter.
One brother, Loyd Bloom of Kansas City and Alaska, also survives.
