CHARLES McINTYRE

Charles McIntyre, who has lived south of Stuart for about 30 years, departed this life at the family home Monday, Jan. 15th. Mr. McIntyre had been in failing health for about a month.

The deceased was a son of Charles and Mary McIntyre, and born May 3, 1841, Newry, Ireland. He came to America in 1865. Landing at New York City, he remained there about six months, when he went to Chicago. He only remained there a short while, when he was seized with a desire to move farther west and came to Des Moines. Being a stone cutter by trade he found employment on the state capitol, which was in progress of erection.

He later returned to Chicago and on May 17, 1872 was united in marriage to Margaret Heuratty. They remained in Chicago until 1876, when they removed to Churchville, Warren County, Iowa, where they lived on a farm. Mr. McIntyre brought his family to Adair county in 1886, where they have since resided.

Nine children were born, six of whom are living, three having preceded their father to the great beyond. The children are: Mrs. Mary Schrader of Stuart, Mrs. Margaret Letz of Winterset, Charles and Kathryn of Stuart, Mrs. Elizabeth Colwell of Menlo and Lelia of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Besides the children, his life companion is left to mourn his death.

The funeral was held Wednesday at 10:30 at the Catholic church with interment in Calvary cemetery. The pall bearers were: Pat Lyddon, John Doud, Chas. Lamb, Jack Eagan, Tim Carey, John Wagner.
