Viola Chadwick Jones, 66, of Bell Gardens, Calif., formerly of Orient, died March 31 at St. Francis Medical Center in Linwood, Calif.

Her funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Keating-Lindsay Funeral Home here. The Rev. John Pehrson will officiate with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Greenfield to Ross and Effie (nee Crist) Chadwick. She was married to William Jones.

Mrs. Jones lived in Orient, Creston and Des Moines before moving to California in 1963. She worked as an H & R Block Tax preparer before retiring in 1964.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Elder of Des Moines, Mrs. Phyllis Eskew of Irving, Texas and Mrs. Claudetta Tague of Ft. Dodge; one son, Cal Pierson of Bell Gardens; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reginia (Mrs. Leroy) Kinkennon and Mrs. Melba Gile, both of Creston; and three brothers, Clinton of Shenandoah, Veral of Des Moines and Robert Chadwick of LaVista, Neb.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shirley, her parents, three sisters and one brother.

A memorial has been established to the family.
