Harlan E. "Mose" Ray, 75, of Orient died Thursday afternoon at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines of a heart attack.

His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home here. the Rev. Michael Metz, pastor of the Orient United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. A family night will be 7 to 8:30 Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray was born April 12, 1909, in Adair County to Chester and Vae (nee Mason) Ray. On Jan. 15, 1944 he married Carrie Stulik in Orient. He was a lifetime resident of the Orient area, a volunteer fireman, a member of the Orient United Methodist Church, and a veteran of World War II. He worked for the C. L. Carroll Construction Co., retiring 1977.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie; a son Robert (wife Dorothy) Ray of Orient; a daughter Marsha (Mrs. Bruno) Ansevics of Des Moines; five grandchildren; a brother Rollie Ray of Rialto, CA.; and five sisters, Norma Hager of Greenfield, Madelyn Capps of Orient, Ruth Shean of Des Moines, Ann Josephson of California and Barbara Crossley of Lousiana.

A memorial has been establised to the Orient United Methodist Church.
