“Elizabeth (Funke) Hein – Elizabeth Wilhemnia Funke Hein daughter of Benjamin and Mary Bretschneider Funke was born June 23 1899 in Adair County, Iowa and passed away November 17, 1974 in the Dexter Hospital Dexter, Iowa. On December 1, 1921 she was united in marriage to Walter Hein at Greenfield, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. She attended rural school in Adair County. She was a homemaker and also worked in the lunch room of the Stuart school. She was a member of the Fairview Congregational Christian Church, Stuart, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; one son, Jack Hein; one grandson Kevin Hein; on great granddaughter, Heather Yearington and five sisters. Survivors include three daughters Sylvia Dodge, Greenfield; Arlene (Mrs. Paul) Adams of Bronson, MO; Ruth (Mrs. Leo) Burg, Bridgewater; one son, Bernard Hein, fort Dodge; four brothers, Earnest, Andrew, and Glen all of Greenfield and Howard of Bridgewater; on sister, Mrs. Gladys Bower, Conway, Texas; 29 grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Memorial services for Mrs. Hein were held at the First Congregational Church in Stuart Wednesday Nov 20 with Rev. George Thurman officiating. (part omitted) Interment services were conducted in the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. The pallbearers were Charles Burg, David Burg, George Conway, Cecil Parkison, DH Shirley and Phillip Sturm” From the Adair County Free Press, Dec 11, 1974
