She was one of five children born to Mrs. And Mrs. A L Fortney. Her death came as a shock to her family and many friends although she has been in poor health for some times, and having several severe attacks of illness. During the war, she did war work, serving in the employ of the Boeing Air Craft Company of Seattle Washington. And on September 26, 1942 she was united in marriage with Donald Eldon Welch, and after the war in fact September 1945 came with her husband to Greenfield, which has since been her home. One son Donald Eldon was born to Eldon and Emily and which was one of the brightest spots in her life as she was not only fond of but nearly worshiped him. And although she has suffered much illness, she was most patient and loving to her family and friends. For a good many years she has been a member of the Baptist church, transferring her membership to the Greenfield Methodist church when she came to Greenfield. Besides her husband and small son, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Donald I. Temple, and a brother Lowell M.
