Paul Dwight Shelley, 64, of DeSoto, died Dec. 1, 1995 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Services were held at the Greenfield United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenfield Cemetery.

Mr. Shelley was born March 3, 1931 to Allison G. Shelley and Mable H. Hadley Shelley in Guthrie County.

Mr. Shelley attended Pleasant Valley rural school in Guthrie County through eighth grade and graduated from Panora High School in 1949. He worked as a farm hand in Adair County for a few years and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953.

On Dec. 24, 1951 Paul married D. Elaine Wulff in Stuart. He continued doing farm work for others then started farming with his father-in-law in Adair County. He served as an Adair County Supervisor from 1982 until 1986. He moved to DeSoto after that. He belonged to the DeSoto United Methodist Church, Flying Farmers, Adco Air, Square Dance Clubs and the Adair County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Shelley is survived by his wife of DeSoto; three sons Donald of Earlham, Delbert of Kimballton and Brian of Corydon. He is also survived by two brothers, Dale of Dallas Center and Dean of Stuart; six sisters, Evelyn Landon of Melbourne, Erma Aswegen of Parkersburg, Wilma Doris Horman of Early, Ruth Cameron of Winterset, Carol Tharp of South Lyon, Mich., and Esther Kelly of Oregon City, Oregon. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mr. Shelley was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one brother.
