George Jackson Smith died at his home in the east part of town on Tuesday, June 20, aged 40 years, 11 months and 18 days. Mr. Smith has been in ill health for the past year, in that time he has not been able to work at his trade which was carpentering. Last fall he was compelled to go to bed and has remained there with but few exceptions until his death. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. His illness was caused by a complication of stomach and liver trouble. The funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bodenham, of the Baptist church after which the remains were laid to rest in the Greenfield cemetery.
