The Orville Sacketts

Orville Sackett, fifth son of pioneer Hiram Sackett, was born in McLean County, Illinois. The parents settled in Grove Township, where he grew to manhood. February 2,1898, he married Mabel, daughter James and Ella (Ide) Head, residents of Grove Township. To this union six children were born: *Howard, Frances (Lane) and Freda (Koenig), twins, both deceased; *Edith (Lane); *Donald; and Mildred (Winn).

Donald J. Sackett was born July 10, 1911, and married *Marie Faber, daughter of Glen and Fay (Schwab) Faber, February 11, 1950. They have two children: Kathy and Johnnie. Johnnie married Tarra Seversen, of North Dakota. They have one child, Dawn Marie.

Donald was born on the Orville Sackett farm on Section 14 and lived on the same farm until he retired and moved to Greenfield in the summer of 1974. During the years he was owner of the farm, many changes were made. A gravity water system from the pasture to the farm buildings was built.
All buildings on the farm are new except a small building used for feed now, but formerly for a separator house. Although retired, Don farms with Bob Lilly, present owner of the farm.
