Van Horne
Kerkman - Ohde
A pretty affair took place in the St. Andrew's Lutheran church Sunday at 4 p.m. when Evelyn Kerkman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Kerkman, became the bride of Wayne Ohde, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ohde of near Keystone. The Rev. Wm. Ullerich officiated at the service. Ralph Kerkmman, brother of the bride, sang "I Love Your Truly" and was accompanied by Miss Coradell Crain. Miss Crain also played the wedding march. The bride was given in marriage by her father and was attended by her sister, Mrs. Ronald Barry. The bridegroom was served by his brother, Willard Ohde. The altar was prettily decorated with baskets of yellow gladiolas.
The bride has lived in this community all her life, graduated from the Van Horne high school and also from the Cedar Rapids business school. She wore a floor length white satin grown trimmed in white lace, and satin slippers. Her finger tip veil of bemberg tulle was gathered to a coronation halo of seed pearls and caught at the sides with orange blossoms. Her bouquet was white gardenias, carnations and call lilies. Her only jewelry was a string of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. The matron of honor wore teel blue satin and carried jonquils and roses. Larry Bockholt dressed in black velvet trousers and white satin blouse carried the ring on a white satin pillow made by the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Harry M. Jenkins.
A reception and dinner followed immediately after the service for the bridal party and guests. The bridal table was centered with a large wedding cake and decorated with yellow gladiolas and pink candles...
The newlyweds left on a honeymoon to Chicago and other points and will be at home Feb. 1 on a farm north of Keystone.
