b. 1799 VA. died 18 Nov 1879 Blairstown Benton Co IA., son of John O'Connor & Hannah Campbell Smith.

Married Barbara North, 2nd to Mary Arnold 3rd married 27 Mar 1834 Hanock Co Oh to Mary Ann Cooper, born Abt 1815, daughter of Henry Cooper. Lived Leroy Twsp. Sec 36, Benton Co IA.


1. Jackson b. 9 Apr 1835 Hancock, OH. Married 25 Dec 1859 Marengo, IA. to Lavancha Lenora Moon. Died 3 Sept 1894 Panora, Guthrie Co. IA.

2. Henry V. b. Dec 1837 Hancock, OH.  Married 26 Jul 1860 Jane Janette Danskin.  Died 31 May 1864 Ft Smith Arkansas, in the Civil War. Served with Co K, 18th Iowa Infantry. Buried at Ft. Smith.

3. John Milton b. 1838 Hancock Co OH, married Mary Keyes.

4. Sarah Louisa Smith b. 3 Aug 1840 Hancock Co. OH Married John Stocker Marengo, IA.

5. Benjamin Franklin Smith b. 1842 Hancock, OH. 4 Aug 1866 Jane Janette Danskin Smith Vinton Benton Co IA (Henry's widow) Served with Co K, 18th IA Infantry. In charge of colors. Wounded and taken prisoner at Battle of Poison Springs, AK.  Released. Jane died and he went to SD, married Mary A. Duffy and had: Bertram b. 17 Aug 1880 & & Dora Belle b.8 Jun 1887.

6. George Washington b. 1845 Indiana died 19 Sep 1864 Wincester, VA in Civil War. Served with Co.    G, 28th Iowa Infantry, killed in action.

7. Frank Francis b. 1846 Indiana

8. Catherine Belinda b. 1848 Indiana.  Married William Weaver, Marengo, IA died 1874 Iowa.

9. Josephine Ellen b. 22 Sep 1850 Indiana.  Married George E. Leonard. Died 13 Apr 1937 Perry, IA.

10. Forrest Evan b. 26 Mar 1854 Indiana.  Married 21 Dec 1885 Nellie May Cowgill Indiana. Died 7 May 1922 Albion IA.
