Irene Zieser
CENTER POINT Irene "Happy" Zieser, 84, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point, where a Scripture service begins at 7 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; three daughters, Charlotte Eldred and husband Charles of Urbana, Janet Nie and husband Kenneth of Jesup and Marilyn Schaefer and husband Roman of Waterloo; a son, Dennis Zieser and wife Monica of Center Point; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Zieser of Urbana and Mary Trigg of Redding, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Joann Zieser; a grandson, Scott; a sister, Marguerite Kramer; and two brothers, Joseph Mahoney and Daniel Mahoney.
Born April 2, 1915, in Castle Grove, to Dannie P. and Elizabeth J. McAvery Mahoney, she married Ralph Zieser on Oct. 6, 1936, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana, and Rosary Society.
