Death Calls Young Mother
Clara Whipple

Following a three months illness with tuberculosis, Mrs. Harry Whipple passed away Christmas night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Rundall, just south of Vinton. During the last few weeks she had failed rapidly and the family were aware that the end was near.

Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. C. Cully, who will be assisted by Rev. C. I. Fisher, of Palo. Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery. Clara Rundall was born November 1, 1894, being 23 years, one month and 25 days old at the time of her death. She was a daughter of Mr and Mrs. M. A. Rundall and was reared to young womanhood in Walker, Iowa. After leaving school she followed the profession of teaching, having taught in schools in tho vicinity of Mt. Auburn, Vinton and Shellsbug for three years. On December 15, 1915, she was united in marriage to Harry Whipple, son of Mrs. Sell Whipple, living west of town. To this most happy union was born a son, Marcus Vernon, just one year from the date of their marriage.

Mrs Whipple took sick early in October and on November 7th was taken to the sanitarium, at Oakdale, Iowa, with the hope that her health might be restored, but she gradually became weaker and asked that she might be brought home. This was done on December 5th. She rapidly grew worse until death took her December 25th, at 7:15 p. m. She was most cheerful and patient throughout her sickness, never once finding fault or complaining, and hopeful to the last.

Mrs. Whipple is survived by her husband and little son, two brothers, Ralph and Leroy Rundall, one sister, Miss Helen, her parents, a grandfather and a host of friends.

The death of this young mother is particularly sad, and those who are left to mourn have the deepest sympathy of the many friends.
