Ellen Weston
Weston. Ellen Mummey was born in Morgan County, Ohio, in the year 1839. When yet a child she moved to Harrison County of that state, residing there until fifteen years of age when she moved to DeWitt, Iowa. When sixteen years of age she joined our church, of which she remained a devoted member. She married John H. Weston Jan. 29, 1861. To this union were born six children Alice Amanda (Mrs. J. C. Saul of Denison, Iowa), Minnie Melvina (Mrs. R. M. Long, Blairstown, Iowa), Cora L. (Mrs. F. B. Goodell, Walford, Iowa), Rev. P. H. Weston, pastor at DeVoe, SD, Bessie (deceased) and Otis M. of Lakeview, Iowa. Mrs. Weston died May 20, 1901 in Chicago, her death occurring shortly after an operation. She had been an invalid for years.

JOHN WESTON OF WALFORD DIES AT HIS OLD HOME
John H. Weston
Walford, Dec. 21: - John H. Weston was born in New York State September 25, 1836 and died at his home in Walford, Iowa, Dec 18, 1917. While yet a boy he came with his father to Clinton County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was converted and united with the Methodist church in his early life and remained a faithful member until death.
On January 29, 1860, he was married to Ellen Mummey at DeWitt, Iowa. To this union was born six children, all of whom survive him except Bessie, who died at the age of 7. Those living are: Mrs. J. C. (Alice Amanda) of Douglas, Wyoming; Rev. P. H. Weston of Rapid City, SD; Mrs. F. B. Goodell (Cora L.) of Vayland, SD; Mrs. R. M Long (Minnie Melvina) of Sac City, Iowa; and M. O. Weston of Walford, all of whom were present at the funeral.
Mrs. Weston, a former wife died May 20, 1901. On March 4, 1904 he was married to Mrs. W. H. Birdsall, who survives him. He is also survived by two half-sisters, two half-brothers, twenty-eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Weston came to Benton County in 1859, and resided on his farm west of Walford until 1904 when he moved to Walford where he lived until death.
The funeral was held Thursday morning, Rev. Maxwell of Fairfax preaching the sermon. Interment was in Norway cemetery.
