Morine L. Van Steenhuyse
BLAIRSTOWN - Morine L. Van Steenhuyse, 96, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Hallmar, Cedar Rapids after a sudden illness. Services were Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Blairstown by Rev. Keith Birch.
Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.
Survivors include: five daughters, Elodie (Paul) Manternach, Blairstown, Nancy (Robert) Hart, Minneapolis, Linda McDevitt, Baltimore, MD, Betty (John) Rogers, Cedar Rapids, and Mary (Larry) Mumby, Denver, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband Frank; parents; five brother and sisters; son-in-law, George McDevitt; and granddaughter, Sara McDevitt.
Morine was born October 20, 1909, in Norway, Iowa to Richard and Mary Schulte Pickart. She graduated from Norway High School and attended Coe College. She was a country schoolteacher. On May 31, 1932, she married Frank Van Steenhuyse in Norway, Iowa. The couple lived in Blairstown all their married life. She was a founding member of St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown.
