Minnie Charlotte Uthoff

Mrs. Chas. Uthoff Passes Away at Her Home Sunday, April 25th

Minnie Charlotte Blomker, daughter of Ernest and Fredrick Blomker, was born in Westphalia, Germany, April 7th, 1864, and passed away at her home Sunday morning at 6:30, April 25th, 1926, after an illness of five weeks, at the age of 62 years and 18 days. She came to America in 1865, and grew to womanhood near Blairstown, Iowa. She was Confirmed at an early age, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

On April 13, 1882, she was united in marriage to Charles Uthoff, where she became a member of the New Jerusalem Church. She was a firm believer in the doctrine and was a faithful supporter of the same. After their marriage they settled on a farm in Lenox township, Iowa county, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her life. To this union were born twelve children: seven sons and five daughters. Clara and Willie, twins, preceded her in death in 1883, at the age of eight months. She is survived by her husband and ten children, Mrs. Martha Brockschink, Norway, Iowa, George H., Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Charley E., Norway, Iowa, Mrs. Anna M. S. Volz, Marengo, Iowa, Mrs. Minnie C. Newcomb, Fairfax, Iowa, Henry C., Van Horne, Iowa, Mrs. Pearl B. Durrow, Marengo, Iowa and Edward L., Victor V. and Arthur E. living at home. The deceased is survived by eighteen grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn, two brothers and one sister: Henry, of Humboldt, Iowa, Lewis. and Mrs. Leasetta Grimm, of Rutland, Iowa, and a host of relatives and friends. Brief funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 with public services at the New Jerusalem Church at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 1926, conducted by Rev. Walter B. Murray, pastor of the New Jerusalem church of Chicago, Ill. Her six sons acted as pallbearers and carried the body of their mother to its last resting place in the New Jerusalem Cemetery.

Vernon, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Uthoff and children, Leora Moyer, John Kanke, Mrs. Will Kanke and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Larson, Van Horne, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Haines and Wm. Almendinger, Blairstown, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Newcomb and children, Mrs. J. Tamblyn and Mrs. C. Heaton, Fairfax, Iowa, Mrs. L. L. Riley, Marie Svoboda and Martha Uthoff, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Wolf, John Schluber and Mrs. Ida Bierman, Marengo, Iowa, and Mrs. Wm. Upmeir and Emil Upmeir of Solon, Iowa.
