Marie D. Spencer

Shellsburg-Marie D. spencer, 78, of rural Shellsburg, died late Thursday evening at St. Luke's Hospital following and apparent heart attack at her home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2;00 p.m. at Grace Trinity church with Rev. Ray Haas officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Shellsburg.

Mrs. Spencer was born near Shellsburg, March 23, 1905 the daugher of Elmer and Dora Meek Cue.

She married Ralph N. Spencer at Vinton on June 2, 1924.

Surviving in adition to her husband are two sons, Jobie Dwayne spencer of Urbana, Ill, Elmer Edward of Lisbon; one daughter, Mrs. David (Evalyn) Ehlers of La Porte city; 10 grandchildren Ronald Frazier, Barbara Lavol, Malinda, Lenora, Nathanael, David and Robert Ehlers, and Brian and Tricia spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mildred Grimm; and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Spencer graduated from Shellsburg High School in 1924. After her marriage, she and her husband lived in Stronghurst, Ill. for several years before returning to Shellsburg in 1959.

Ralph N. Spencer

Ralph N. Spencer, age 84, died Sunday evening, May 5, 1985 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.

He was born on February 19, 1901 in Franklin county, Iowa to Charles and Iva Janet King Spencer. On June 2, 1924, he was married to Marie D. Cue at Vinton. She preceded in him in death on April 14, 1983. Mr. Spencer was a farmer and a general contractor prior to his retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Jobie Dwayne of Urbana, Ill., and Elmer Edward of Lisbon; one daughter, Evalyn (Mrs. David) Ehlers of LaPorte city; ten grandchildren, Ronald Frazier, Barbara Lavol, Malinda Lenora, Nathanael, David and Robert Ehliers, and Brian, Tricia, and Cory Spencer; one great-grandson Chad Frazier; one brother, Russell Lowell Spencer of Rockford, Ill, and three sisters, Violet (Mrs. Earl) Carpenter, Cryustal Wirlamen, and Ethel Griert all of Kewanee, Ill.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mildred Grimm; one grandaughter; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May, 1985 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Gene Zhorne of the World Wide Church of God officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg...

Shellsburg Rites For Infant Girl
Teresa Linn Spencer

Shellsburg- Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery for Teresa Linn Spencer, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Spencer. The baby girl died Saturday at Virginia Gay hospital soon after she was born.

Surviving are her parents: grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ralp hSpencer and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jondle of Shellsburg; three aunts and one uncle.

Rev. Cloyse Wentworth will officiate at the services. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Fry and Holland funeral home.
