Obituary for Henry G. Siek

Henry G. Siek, 83, a lifelong resident of rural Blairstown, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Marengo Memorial Hospital following a farming accident. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, November 3, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Friday, November 2, also at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Henry was born December 5, 1923, in rural Blairstown, the son of Henry F. and Hazel M. Hartz Siek. He graduated from Blairstown High School in 1941. On February 20, 1944, Henry was united in marriage with Harriet H. Bruch at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Henry’s lifelong occupation was farming. He had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church his entire life, where he was an Elder and a member of the church Board. He was also a member of the County School Board, the Blairstown Grain Company Board, the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and Farm Bureau. He was a well-known and well-respected member of his community. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; one daughter: Rita (David) Glime of La Porte City; three sons: H. Marion (Nancy) Siek and Richard (Sheryl) Siek, all of Blairstown, and Robert (Vicki) Siek of Lamoni; 11 grandchildren: Abbie Siek of Los Angeles, CA; Katie Siek of Laguna Niguel, CA; Amy (David) Andrew of Bondurant; Jamie Doubek of Blairstown; Lynnette (Scott) Frederick of Chadwick, IL; H. Jason (Stacy) Siek of Blairstown; Alex Siek of Iowa City; Gwendolyn Vogeler of La Porte City; Wyatt (Darby) Glime of Everly; Heather Siek of Des Moines and Aaron (Abby) Siek of Malcolm; 10 great-grandchildren: Kindyl and Kade Andrew, Madyson and Quinten Frederick, H. Landon and Hannah Siek, Matthew and Nicolas Vogeler, Presley Glime, and Owen Siek. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Siek. A memorial fund has been established.
