Minnie Self
Vinton - Mrs. V. A. Self, 64, resident of the Vinton community for many years, Wednesday night at the Vinton home of her sister, Mrs. James Rice, of a heart ailment; rites Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the Fry-Holland funeral home; burial here in Evergreen cemetery; nee Minnie Fuehrer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Fuehrer, Mar. 16, 1885; came to Iowa with her parents and married to Virgil Self, Dec. 5, 1906 in Big Grove Township, Benton county; family moved to Charles City in 1925; Mr. Self died Jan. 11, 1949; member of Bethlehem Lutheran church, Vinton, Navy Mothers' club, and Union auxiliary; leaves a daughter and son, Mrs. George Jermier and James A. Self, Charles City; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and 10 brothers and sisters, Mrs. P. H. Staab, Mrs. Rice, Ed Fuehrer, Mrs. Allen Baker and Herman Fuehrer, all of Vinton; William Fuehrer, Boody, Ill; Mrs. Herman Fleck, La Porte City; Mrs. Paul Mealhow, Rowley; Mrs. Earl Temeyer, Independence and Carl Fuehrer, Center Point.
