Theodore Schmitz
URBANA Theodore "Ted" Schmitz, 92, of Urbana, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Gabriel Anderson. Burial: church cemetery, with military rites. Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Overton-Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home, Vinton, with a rosary service at 4 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Carole) Schmitz of Waterloo; five daughters, Mary Anne (Michael) Carmody of Osage, Judy (Jim) Dolan of Santa Ana, Calif., Karen (Jerry) Carter of Newport Beach, Calif., Joan (Keith) Zieser of Vinton and Linda (Terry) Dunham of Kansas City, Mo., four sisters, Frances (Francis "Bud") Weber of Walker, Marie Schmitz and Addie Kress, both of Independence, and Eileen Knight of Walker; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmitz of Vinton; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary (Michael) Schmitz; his wife, Wilma on March 4, 2002; a daughter, Nancy on May 28, 2001; and two brothers, John and Edward.
