Mark Ross Reynolds dies at Vinton Hospital

SHELLSBURG-Mark Ross Reynolds, 76, died Monday afternoon at the Virginia Gay Hospital following an illness of several months.
He was born March 17, 1895 at Brandon, a son of Dimmock and Constance McCoy Reynolds, and married Marie Margret Steward at Akron, Ohio on November 10, 1915. A graduate of Tilford Academy in Vinton, he owned and operated his own insurance agency in Shellsburg many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg, the Lutheran Fellowship Club, served as church secretary 20 years, and was a representative of L.L.L. many years. He also was served as chairman of the Benton County Red Cross.
He is survived by his widow; five daughters Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Hite of Vinton, Mrs. Clarence (Marian) Miller of Farmington, Utah, Mrs. Clifford (Lavon) Frank of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Connie Cox of Norway, and Mrs. Dean (Audrey) Mullinex of Shellsburg; 29 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Cook of Evansdale, Mrs. Olive Titus and Mrs. Grace Brewer of Vinton and one brother Rex Reynolds of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by one son Mark Jr., who was killed in World War II, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg with Pastor E.R. Dohrmann officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Shellsburg.
