A Great Many of Benton County's Oldest Citizens Were Called This Fall
Elizabeth Pruett
Mrs. Elizabeth Pruett, who had reached the advance age of 73 years, 9 months and 2 days, died at the home of her son, R. L. Pruett, in Benton township, on Thursday, December 10th. The funeral services were held from the Mt. Pleasant church on December 11th, and burial was in the the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

J.T. PRUETT, 75, DIES OF CANCER AT SHELLSBURG
John Tyler Pruett
John Tyler Pruett, 75, who had been ill all summer and fall with cancer of the stomach and throat, died at 5:00p.m. yesterday at the family home here. Funeral Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the residence, conducted by the Rev. U. H. Hoefle of Vinton. Burial will be in the McBroom Cemetery near Shellsburg.
Mr. Pruett was a native of Indiana and was born November 19, 1861. Nearly all his life was spent in Benton County as a farner, For a number of years he made his home at Vinton. He was married 52 years ago to Miss Laura Austin at Tekamah, Nebraska, and she survives him. His five children living are: Fred Pruett and Mrs. Pearl Worthen, of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Lulu Mullinex of Shellsburg, and Grant and Glenn Pruett at home. One son died while in the World War. Robert L. Pruett of Vinton is a brother of the deceased. There are 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren in his family.

Laura A. Pruett, 94, Dies at Cedar Rapids
Laura A. Pruett
Laura A. Pruett, 94 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of the Vinton Community, died Sunday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home following a short illness.
She was born Ocotber 11, 1867, in Sullivan, N.Y., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Austin. She married John T. Pruett, November 19, 1884, in Burt County, Nebraska. He died November 5, 1936. Mrs. Pruett was a member of the Baptist church. She left Vinton about 1945 and the last 11 years lived in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are three sons, Fred of Cedar Rapids, Grant of Vinton,and Glenn of Watkins, two daughters, Mrs. Lulu Mullinex of Shellsburg and Mrs. Pearl Worthen of Cedar Rapids, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren, and a brother Charley of Tekamah, Nebraska.
A son Floyd, two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Fry and Holland funeral home. Rev. Earl Travis will officiate. Burial will be in the McBroom Cemetery near Shellsburg...
