John M. Primrose
John M. Primrose, one of Norway's oldest residents, passed away at his home in Norway Friday morning, March 25, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 12 days. Son of John and Julia Primrose, he was born on January 13, 1866 on a farm northeast of Norway. He married Clio Montague Oct. 5, 1904, and spent much of his life farming, spending the last 11 years in Norway. He had been bedfast for the past year. He was brought up in the Presbyterian faith.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were four sisters: Mrs. Nettie Scholtterbeck, Mrs. Jeanie Pirie, Mrs. Elizabeth Norland and Mrs. Susy Lichty; and three brothers, James, William and Adam.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Floyd, of San Antonio, TX, one daughter, Mrs. Jessie Meland, of Newhall, three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren, one brother, Allie of Riceville, and one sister, Mrs. Sam Bradley of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Moore of Blairstown officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery north of Norway. Pallbearers were nephews: Chester Schlotterbeck, Roy Primrose, Donald Bradley, Lloyd Primrose, Ernest Montague and Clarence Primrose.
