Milton S. Pierce
Died — At the residence of hie father, Milton S. Pierce, near Mt. Auburn, Monday, March 25th, of typhoid fever, Mr. Bruce Pierce, aged 24 years. The funeral sermon was preached at the house on Tuesday, by Rev. Swearengen, and the remains were buried in the St. Clair cemetery. The funeral ceremonies were under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge of Mt. Auburn, of which the deceased was an honored member. The Mt. Auburn lodge was assisted by the lodges at Vinton and Brandon. There were some 65 brethren present on the occasion and the ceremonies at the grave were beautiful and impressive, Dr. Whitney, of Vinton, acting master of same. Mr. Pierce is spoken of as a very estimable young man of culture both of mind and heart, and bis death is a great public loss.
