Lois Mae O'Brian
Shellsburg- Lois Mae O'Brian, 75 of Shellsburg died Monday afternoon at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
She was born on November 22, 1908, near Shellsburg in Benton Township, to Henry D. and Mabel J. Russell Graham. She married James O'Brian on September 27, 1934 in the family home north of Shellsburg.
She graduated from Shellsburg Community High School in 1927 and then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She taught for three years in Benton co. rural schools.
She was a member of the Church of the Foursquare Gospel of Cedar Rapids. She was very active in church work serving as Sunday School teacher and Sunday school superintendent for many years. She was also a member of the Leisure Club in Shellsburg.
Surviors include two sons, Larry of Shellsburg and Don of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Shirley Dauthart of Shellsburg; one sister Bess Graham of Shellsburg; and two brothers Donley Graham of Shellsburg and Jack Graham of Cedar Rapids. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, infant brother Merle Graham and sister Doris Graham Johnson.
Services at 2.m., Wednesday, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Bringman and Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at Shellsburg...
