SHELLSBURG CITIZEN ENTERS FINAL REST
I. P. Noe, an Old and Respected Citizen of Shellsburg, Passed Away at His Home Tuesday
Ira Payne Noe
Shellsburg, April –Special-The reaper, Death, has again entered our community, and removed an old and respected citizen in the person of I. P. Noe. He has been in failing health during the winter months, but not until the day of his death, Tuesday, did anyone think the end was so near.
He came to Shellsburg in 1864 with his family and has lived here ever since, his wife dying thireen years ago. Since then he has made his home with his daughter Mrs. Florence Shomler.
He was a character that will be greatly missed in the community, as his familiar face was seen on our streets daily, always busy at something. He was a consistent, active member in the Methodist church and also a member of Shellsburg lodge No. 171, I.O.O.F.
The funeral services were held Thursday at 10:30 from the church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.S. Burnard. The Odd Fellows also took a prominent part in the services, both at the church and cemetery.
