Death of Nick Michael
Nicholas Michael
Nick Michael, sr., one of the pioneers of Spencer's Grove, died a week ago yesterday, at the age of 87 years and 10 months. He was born in Germany and spent the first fifty years of his life in that country. He came to this country in the early sixties and settled on the John Kramer farm near Spencer's Grove. He afterwards bought a farm which is now known as the Michael homestead. During the last nine years he has made his home with his son John, where his death occurred.
He is survived by two sons, John and John B., and one daughter, Mrs. Al Dripps; also sister, Mrs. John Kramer, and three brothers, Nicholas of Independence; John of Spencer's Grove, and Peter, of Indiana. Funeral services were held last Wednesday from St. Mary's church at Spencer's Grove. The deceased was well known throughout northern Benton and the adjoining districts of Buchanan and Linn counties.
{Submitter comment: He is my great great uncle; brother of my great great grandmother Anna Michael Yunker Kramer.}
