Shellsburg Record, March 2d. Bert McCoy, a young man, son of J.F. McCoy died at the residence of his brother in Benton Township, of pneumonia, on Wednesday February 28,1883

David Wesley Mc Coy
David Wesley Mc Coy 79 died at his farm home five miles southeast of Huron, at 12:15 A.M. Saturday. His death followed a lingering illness and cause of death was cancer of the throat.
He was born Dec 161875 in Shellsburg, Iowa., and came to South Dakota in June of 1881 with his parents and the settled on a farm five miles southeast of Huron. In 1903 he was married to Susie Schmitz and she died in 1910. He was married in 1916 to Minnie Francher who died in 1919 during the flu epidemic. In 1920 he was married to Merle Mitchell at Danvers, Minn.
McCoy was a member of the Methodist Church and Huron Lodge No.26 AF, Huron Chapter No. 10 Lakotah Commandery No.6 and El Riad Shrine. Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. Isabel Hanson of Huron; Mrs. Shirley Moore, Forestburg and Mrs. Eunice Colburn, Clear Lake and the son, David McCOY of Cavour; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred Steuerwald of Wolsey and one brother, Walter McCoy, East Moline, Ill. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son. Dwight Walton, who died in 1925. The family prefers memorials to Shrine Crippled Children's Home in lieu of flowers.
Friends may call at the Welter Chapel Sunday and Monday evenings. Funeral arrangements had not been completed Saturday pending word from out-of-town relatives.
