Bessie Edna Mason, 84 died Wednesday afternoon in the Vinton Lutheran Home.

surviving are a daughter, Louise Waller of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Clyde and Richard, both of Shellsburg, Earl of Pine River, Minn., and Harold of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Marguerite Francisco and Anita Langham, both of Cedar Rapids, and Grace Fuehrer of Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services; 10:30 A.M. Saturday, Phillips', Vinton, where friends may call after 2 P.M. today. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. A Memorial fund has been established. Times Paper Oct 17, 1986

Pneumonia Fatal to 3 Month Old Girl

Shellsburg- funeral services will be held at the Federated Church here Friday afternoon at two o'clock for Connie Marie Mason, three month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mason of Shellsburg.

The baby died at her home here this morning after becoming ill with pneumonia Memorial Day.

Rev. Warren Bloyer will conduct the services Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery here in Shellsburg.

Connie Marie was born Feb. 21 1953 in a Cedar Rapids Hospital. She is survived by her parents and a sister Sheryl, 3 and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mason and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cress of Shellsburg. A sister Ellen preceded her in death.

Darwin Lee Mason

Webster, IA-Darwin Lee Mason, age 42 died Thursday evening, July 7, 1994, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City following an extended illness.

He was born October 11, 1951 at Cedar Rapids to Earl and Alberta Jean Cress Mason.

September 10, 1989, he married Tammy Harvey at Backus, MN.

For several years he was employed by the D.C. Taylor Co. and at Iowa Ham...

In addition to his wife, Tammy, he is survived by his son, Kenneth; his daughter, Patty; his granddaughter, Nichole, all of Brainerd, MN; his parents, Earl and Alberta Mason of North English; his maternal grandparents, Everett and Erma Cress, Shellsburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwayne and Roxanne Mason, North English; and William and Sue Mason, Webster; six nephews; one niece; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 11, 1994 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, with Rev. Caroll Slaton of the New Life Fellowship Church in Lisbon officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg...

Earl L. Mason

NORTH ENGLISH: Earl L. Mason, age 82, of North English, formerly of Shellsburg, died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a sudden illness.

Earl was born on February 23, 1923 in rural Center Point, the son of Oscar and Bessie (Sanders) Mason. He served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. On October 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Alberta Cress in Shellsburg. Earl worked as a self employed plasterer, retiring in the late 1970's. He was a member of the Shellsburg American Legion Post # 166 and loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife Alberta of North English; two sons, Dwayne Mason and Bill (Sue) Mason, all of Webster, Iowa; six grandsons, Adam Mason and Matthew Mason, both of Brainerd, MN, David Mason, serving in the Air Force, in Germany, Brandon Mason and Chase Mason of Peqout Lakes, MN, and Kenneth Mason of Jenkins, MN; one granddaughter, Patty Garner of Brainerd, MN; four great granddaughters, Nicole, Brandie, and Lindsay, all of Brainerd and Lakota of Jenkins, MN; his brother, Clyde (Decie) Mason of Shellsburg; his sister-in-law, Pauline Mason of Shellsburg; several nieces and nephews and two very special aunts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bessie; his son Dairwin Mason; his sister Louise Waller and her husband Elmer; and three brothers, Ronnie Dale Mason, Richard Mason and Harold Mason.

Funeral Today for Stillborn Daughter of the Clyde Masons

A brief funeral service was held by the Fry-Holland funeral home this afternoon for the stillborn daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mason of Vinton. Ellen Colleen the couples first child was born at the Vinton Hospital Sunday. The infant was a grandaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Mason of Vinton and Mr. and Mrs Everette Cress of Shellsburg. Rev. Francis R. Tarrant had charge of the service. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Shellsburg.

Orlie Russell Mason

Orlie Russell Mason 1840 First Ave NW, a Cedar Rapids resident, and employee of Quaker Oats Co. for 35 years and a veteran of the Rainbow division in World war I died suddenly Sunday. Born July 24, 1896, near Shellsburg, he was married to Rose Bemer on June 17, 1919, at Vinton.

Surviving are his wife: 2 daughters, Mrs Leonard LaVelle of Central City and Mrs. Joe Rawson of Toddville; one sister. Mrs. Roy Meskimens of Shellsburg, and a half brother, Earl Mason of Kansas City.

Mr. Mason was a member of Oak Grove Christian church and Hanford post of the American Legion.

Services in Turner's at 1:30 Wednesday by the Rev. Chester Ainsworth. Burial in Linwood.

Richard "Dick" Mason

Shellsburg-Richard "Dick" Mason, 74 died Monday morning, Nov 25 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 14, 1928, to Oscar and Bessie (Sanders) Mason near Troy Mills and spent his childhood in the Cedar Rapids and Shellsburg area. Dick farmed with his father before going into the plastering business with his brothers. He was an active partner of Mason Brothers Plastering until retiring in 1986. On October 23, 1946, he married Dorothy Ferguson near Vinton and they divorced in 1960. He married Pauline Waddle on Oct 28, 1960, at Lancaster, Mo...

He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Shellsburg; his daughter, Diana Usher of Vinton, four sons and daughters-in-laws, Dennis and Bonnie of Cedar Rapids, Michael and Debbie of Beloit, Wis., Richard and Kim of Hiawatha, and John and Teri of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Darrell Usher, Dicta and Fred Schmidt and Dorian Usher and fiance Darwin Yarbrough, all of Vinton, Elizabeth and Hank Etten, and Shawn and Gara Mason, all of Cedar Rapids. Christopher Mason and Morgan Mason both of Beloit, Wis., Scott Mason and Jennifer Mason both of Hiawatha, Angela and Sarah Mason of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren Joshua and Michael John Usher. Nigel Yarbrough, Ryan Holst, Arron Schmidt, Kenyatta Yarbrough, Elias Etten and Cierra Mason; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Alberta of North English, Clyde and Decie of Shellsburg and Harold of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sat. Nov 30, 2002 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev Mark Larson of the Edgewood Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery near Shellsburg...
