John Magill Dead
Death finally Released Young Man who camped several weeks near the Chautanqna Park Shellsburg Call July 21, John Magill died at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Magill, yesterday afternoon at about 2 o'clock. His death had been expected any time during the week. Last March John came from Tipton where he had a position in a barber shop, and soon took to his home with that dreaded disease, consumption, which has gradually grown worse until the end came yesterday. Local physicians did all they could for him he went to the tuberculosis hospital at Oakdale where the doctors pronounced his case incurrable, and he returned home and was soon confined to his bed. He was taken to Vinton some weeks ago in the hope of recieving some benefit, but that did him no good and he was brought back home the first of last week in a very low condition, and his friends said John couldn't last many days. He had wasted away until he was only a mere shadow of his former self. John was born near the town of Benton city, Benton county and came with his parents to Shellsburg, where he has spent most of his life. He was about 21 years of age, when the future promised much and life was sweet to him. He was well liked by those who knew him and all say he was a good boy.
He held a good position in Tipton until he was forced to give it up on account of failing health. The arrangements for the funeral had not been completed this morning, but it is understood it will be held Saturday.
