Garrison: Tom C Lynch, 59, died of lung cancer at his Garrison residence Sunday morning, July 7, 1991.
He was born in Vinton May 17, 1932, to John Joseph (JJ) and Cecile (Crager) Lynch. In 1950, he graduated from Vinton High School.
Mr. Lynch was employed as Personnel Manager at McQuay-Perfex in Vinton until the plant closed in 1981. He worked for B.L. Anderson for five years and was most recently employed by the Vinton Community School District as a bus driver.
As an active member of his community, he has served as Mayor of Garrison since 1987 and as City Treasurer from 1984-1987. He was a member of the Garrison Fire Department for 13 years, serving as captain for three years and as assistant chief for five years.

November 20, 1970, he married Sheila Phelps at Vinton. In addition to his wife, Sheila, Garrison; he is survived by his daughters, Teresa (Mrs. Jack) Dornan, and Tierney (Mrs. Charlie) Ratti, both of Virginia Beach, VA; his two sons, Thomas and his wife, Cindy, Tim and his wife, Janet, of Vinton, and Steven of Dubuque; his sister, Nancy (Mrs. Ken) Clancy of Mt. Vernon and a brother, William and his wife, Sharon, of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jack, Herb, and Dick.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Garrison, with Rev. John Ranbarger officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
